About me
Our group is in Department of Computer Science, College of Engineering , as a part of Computing program (including Ph.D.) at the Boise State University.
Dr. Long is also an affliated faculty to the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES), at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).
Sponsored by NSF, DOE, INL, CAES and BSU, our research focuses on:
- Data science and its application in fundamental science
- Data analyis and visualization
- Scientific programming, high-performance computing.
- Nuclear/irradiated materials modeling, multi-scale modeling, MOOSE/MARMOT/BISON
- Hydrodynamics (HD) and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD).
- Nuclear astrophysics, plasma, accretion, jets and outflow, galactic black holes.
Graduate assistantships through Ph.D. program
Please visit Computing Ph.D. Program for more information about GA funds. We always welcome self-motivated graduate and undergraduate students who would like to engage in computational science and engineering, especially those who have a background in form one of the following fields: computer science (e.g., data science, high-performance computing), mechanical engineering (e.g. CFD), material science or physics. Some programming skills in one of languages like FORTRAN, C++, C and python are preferred. However, the self motivation is most valued.
